Do you think you may be pregnant?

A million questions spin in your mind at once.  With over half of all the pregnancies in Blount County being unplanned, you are certainly not alone.

Facing an unplanned pregnancy is hard.  Fear, confusion, and anger are just some of the feelings that you may be experiencing. You have the right to be fully informed about this decision.  It is YOUR decision and you deserve to know the facts.  Peer counselors are standing by to sit down with you and discuss your options. If you are confused, anxious, or worried due to an unplanned pregnancy, know that you do have options.

Open adoption, closed adoption, foster care, and parenting are all positive options that allow your baby to have a chance to live. It is your life, your body, your baby. Before you decide, know the facts and know your options.

What are the symptoms of pregnancy?

In addition to a missed period, the earliest symptoms of pregnancy might include:
  • Nausea, with or without vomiting
  • Morning sickness which can strike at any time, day or night and sometime begins as early as three weeks after conception
  • Heightened sense of smell
  • Tender, swollen breasts
  • Increased urination
  • Fatigue.
  • Food cravings.

If you think you may be pregnant, come to BLOUNT COUNTY SAV-A-LIFE for a free pregnancy test.

What are your options?

Adoption

Adoption means that you carry your pregnancy to term and choose another family to care for and raise your child.  Developing an adoption plan empowers you to create a positive future for yourself and your baby. Adoption may not be the first thought to come to mind if you have an unplanned pregnancy.  However, you will be pleased to learn that you may select the parents who will raise your child and that you may have some ongoing relationship with your child if the adoptive parents agree.  With adoption, you have the lifelong satisfaction of knowing that you gave your baby the chance for a life of his or her own.  Research has shown that pregnant teens and women who make an adoption plan are more like to finish school, obtain better jobs, and report a high level of satisfaction with their decision to place their child in a loving, adoptive family.
