Dear Partner,

Maybe it’s because just a couple of weeks ago we had our biggest walk ever, or maybe it’s because I’ve just submitted our annual Care-Net report and have spent the last couple of hours adding and looking for the right numbers, or maybe its because I’m not vacuuming at this moment and my friends know that’s when I do most of my thinking.  Whatever the reason, I find myself sitting in front of my computer needing to do this newsletter and with the sticky notes stuck around my desk, files sitting around, so many reminders of all that has taken place in the center this past week - I find myself just wanting to pray.

I’m praying for the girl I talked to yesterday whose husband was unfaithful and she was so sad and hurt that she was considering abortion and not telling him.  I pray, Lord that she has turned to you for comfort and guidance.  I pray that she’s holding those baby booties that were given to her and she’s looking at the pictures of how her baby is growing and that she’s remembering that she said, “I know I can love this baby”.  I’m praying for the 14 year that we had to contact DHR about because of suspected statutory rape laws – please soften her heart and help her understand the risks of disease that were explained to her could really happen and that’s not God’s plan for sex (and thank you for the negative test !).

I pray for the girl from West Africa that’s Muslim and the girl from Guatemala that spoke no English.  Although our conversation was limited I pray they were able to see you through the love and kindness that was shown to them and you would continue to speak to them through the literature that was given.  I also want to say thank you Lord for the wonderful baby shower we had yesterday afternoon for the moms completing “Preparing For Your Baby” classes.  Those attending were so attentive as Jamie was talking to them – I pray that they will remember his words because they were your words.  I am so thankful for the ladies from Crossroads Baptist that not only brought refreshments and gifts but sat with these girls and their families and spent time with them.  I pray that they will always remember these ladies and their kind words and hugs.

So often we are asked to pray for political leaders and for all the things that are taking place in Washington and that’s a good Biblical concept and we should.  Just remember the answer to ending abortion in America starts at your local pregnancy help center.  Here, hearts are changed – and lives are saved.  And with these successes a culture turns toward life.

Pray for Sav-A-Life Bessemer.  Pray for our board, our paid and volunteer staff and most of all – our clients.  Life or death decisions are made right here.  We know prayer makes a difference!

                                                                               Prayerfully and for life,
                                                                              Becky
