Volunteer Receptionist: Receptionists answer the phone, greet those who come in, watch children of clients, help with filing, stuffing envelopes, cleaning around the office, fundraisers, etc. They also have opportunities to share the gospel and/or facts about abortion with those who may come into the center with a client. Currently we have 2 of the 8 half-day receptionists we need to be fully staffed.
Volunteer Counselor: Women who are available to work at least 2 half-days a month, 9 – 1 or 12 – 4, during our regular office hours (Monday – Thursday 9:00 to 4:00). Counselors share one on one with young ladies while doing pregnancy tests. They also as help out with receptionist’s duties (see above). Before becoming a counselor, you must volunteer as a receptionist for 3 months and then complete Counselor Training (provided). Women who have experienced an abortion must first go through our Abortion Recovery Bible Study. Currently we have 4 of the17 half-day counselors we need to be fully staffed.
Church Liaison: Be the link between Sav-A-Life and your church. Promote and pass along information about events and prayer needs. Recruit people in your church to help with various needs listed below and in newsletters and to help in fundraisers. Come to the special liaison meeting in January to promote the Walk for Life, our primary source of funding.
Adopt a Mom - Shower gifts: We offer classes to any first time, single mom (most are teens) as a way to educate and continue sharing Christ with her. Classes are held once a week during every February, May, August, and November. You or your church may adopt a mom-to-be (or an entire class of moms!) and provide a new large diaper bag filled with new baby items (outfits, sleepers, lotions, toys, etc) for her. Your gift will be given to her at the baby shower held during the last class. You may also bring a personal gift for her (gown for hospital, bible, lotion, etc). You may attend and meet her if you like. This is a significant and ongoing need.
Adopt a Class - Shower Refreshments: Groups or individuals are needed to provide refreshments for the shower held during the last preparing for your baby class every February, May, August, and November. (See Adopt a Mom above.) This is a significant and ongoing need.
Knit or Crochet Booties: We give each girl with a positive test a pair of booties. If you can knit or crochet and would like to have an impact in a new mother’s life, but can not be here during office hours, booties for a newborn (NOT PREMIE!!) is a significant and ongoing need. Be sure to pray for the child and mother as you make each pair!
Crisis Closet: We provide assistance to young mothers and need the following items:
